Mandatory Ventilation Inspection (OVK)

What does it mean?
OVK (obligatorisk ventilationskontroll) is a legally required inspection of ventilation systems in buildings. The purpose is to ensure ventilation functions correctly and provides sufficient air exchange for good indoor air quality. The inspection is performed by a certified ventilation inspector.
OVK must be performed at regular intervals depending on building type and ventilation system: every three years for supply and exhaust systems in apartment buildings, and every six years for natural draft systems. Results must be posted in the building, and the property owner is responsible for rectifying any deficiencies. Poor ventilation can cause moisture problems, mold, and health issues for residents.
