At Bofrid, we want you to feel safe using our service. This page explains what information we collect about you, why we do it, and how you have control over your data. We comply with all Swedish data protection laws, and your privacy is important to us.

3. What Information We Collect About You
To help you find housing, rent out your property, and manage rent payments, we collect different types of information. Here we explain what information this involves and why we need it.
Your Identity and Security
What we collect: Your name and personal identity number through BankID.
Why: So that both you and landlords can feel secure. BankID verification shows that you are a real person and prevents fraud.
Your Finances and Employment
What we collect: Pay slips, employment contracts, work certificates, study certificates, and criminal record extracts (only if you choose to upload them).
Why: So that landlords can see that you can afford the rent. This increases your chances of getting the housing you want.
Your Housing History
What we collect: Information about where you have lived before and references from previous landlords.
Why: To show that you are a good tenant who takes care of properties. This helps you stand out among other applicants.
Your Bo-merit (Trust Assessment)
What it is: A score between 0-100 that shows how reliable you are as a tenant.
What it helps with: Landlords can quickly see that you are a safe candidate, which increases your chances of getting the housing you want.
Contact Information for Finding Housing
What we collect: Your email and phone number (if you choose to provide it).
Why: So that you and landlords can contact each other when you find a match. We never share your phone number without your prior consent.
Payment Information
What we collect: Bank account details, invoice information, and payment history.
Why: To handle rent payments securely and pay out rent to landlords according to our payment intermediation service. Bank account details are securely retrieved via BankID and stored only with our payment service provider.
4. What We Use Your Information For
We use your information to make it easy and safe for you to find housing:
- Help you find housing that suits you
- Ensure that everyone on the platform is a real person (through BankID)
- Show landlords that you are a reliable tenant
- Connect you with the right landlords
- Protect both you and landlords from fraud
- Improve our service so it becomes better for everyone
5. Why We Are Allowed to Use Your Information
We use your information on legal grounds. These are the most important ones:
When You Give Us Permission
For certain things, we ask for your permission first, such as when you upload financial documents or choose to share your phone number. You can always change your mind and withdraw your permission.
For the Service to Work
We need certain information for the platform to work at all, such as creating your account and displaying property listings.
To Keep the Platform Safe
We use certain information to protect you and other users from fraud and to improve security.
Due to Swedish Laws
We must save certain information according to Swedish law, for example, to prevent money laundering.
Important About Your Bo-merit
Your Bo-merit is calculated automatically and can affect your chances of getting housing. You always have the right to have it explained how it is calculated and can ask us to review it manually if you think something is wrong.
6. Who We Share Your Information With
We never sell or share your information for advertising or profit. We only share information when necessary for the service to work or to comply with laws.
BankID Verification
To verify your identity with BankID, we use a secure service called Criipto. They only have access to your information during the verification itself and store it securely in Europe.
Housing History
To retrieve information about where you have lived before, we use Nusvar, which is a Swedish service specializing in housing data. This helps us build your Bo-merit.
Payment Processing
To handle rent payments, we use Billecta, a Swedish payment service that specializes in invoicing and payment intermediation. Billecta handles invoicing, payment collection, and disbursements to landlords. They process personal data only on our behalf and follow strict data protection rules.
Technical Infrastructure
In addition to the above services, we use Firebase (Google) for data storage and technical infrastructure. All our subcontractors process personal data only on our behalf and may not use the data for their own purposes.
With Other Users (Only When You Choose)
When you find housing and the landlord accepts your request, we share your contact information so you can talk directly. This only happens after you both say yes.
Authorities (Only When Required by Law)
In very rare cases, we may need to share information with Swedish authorities if required by law, for example, in criminal investigations.
7. Where Do We Process Your Personal Data?
We always strive for your personal data to be processed within the EU/EEA. Some of our technical providers (e.g., Firebase, owned by Google LLC) have all or part of their operations in countries outside the EU/EEA (so-called third countries).
Regardless of which country your personal data is processed in, we take all reasonable legal, technical, and organizational measures to ensure that the level of protection is the same as within the EU/EEA. We ensure that the provider enters into an agreement with us where they commit to following the provisions approved by the European Commission for the protection of personal privacy (standard contractual clauses).
8. How We Protect Your Information
Your security is important to us. We protect your information by:
- Encrypting all sensitive information so that only you can access it through login or by actively sharing it
- Using secure servers and databases
- Regularly checking our security systems
- Limiting which employees have access to your data
- Taking backups so that your information is not lost
9. Cookies and Technical Information
We use cookies to keep you logged in, ensure the functionality of the service, and improve the user experience. This includes both necessary cookies and analytical cookies (such as Google Analytics) to understand how the service is used.

10. Your Control Over Your Information
You have full control over your information. Here are the most important things you can do:
See All Information We Have About You
You can get a copy of all information we have saved about you. Contact us and we will send everything to you within 30 days.
Correct Wrong Information
If something is wrong, you can change it in your profile or contact us. This especially applies to your Bo-merit if you think it is incorrect.
Delete Your Information
You can ask us to delete your information. We do it immediately, except for certain information we must save according to Swedish law (then we anonymize it instead).
Get a Copy of Your Data
You can get all your data in a format that works with other services, for example, if you want to move to another housing platform.
Withdraw Your Consent
If you have previously given us permission for something, you can always change your mind. Keep in mind that this may affect how the service works for you.
Understand Your Bo-merit
You can always have it explained how your Bo-merit is calculated and ask us to review it manually if you think something is wrong.

We respond within 30 days and it costs nothing. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
11. How Long We Keep Your Information
We only save your information as long as needed. Here are the most important time limits:
Financial Documents (Pay Slips, Bank Statements)
These documents are stored securely in your profile so you can access them when you need them, for example, for multiple housing applications. You can delete them yourself at any time from your profile. When you close your account, all documents are automatically deleted within 30 days. The verified income value is used to calculate your Bo-merit.
Contact Information Between You and Landlords
We save contact information as long as your account is active, so you can communicate with landlords. When you close your account, all contact information is automatically deleted within 30 days.
Your Profile and Bo-merit
These are saved as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete everything within 30 days.
BankID Verification
We save your verified identity according to Swedish law for 7 years for security and anti-money laundering reasons, but we anonymize it so it cannot be linked to you after you close your account.
Automatic Cleanup
We automatically clean up old data so that your privacy is protected. You don't need to do anything - it happens automatically according to the time limits above.
12. Changes to This Page
Sometimes we need to update this page to clarify things or when we change our procedures. We always notify you of important changes.
