What does it mean?
A rent invoice (hyresavi) is the monthly bill you receive from your landlord. It specifies the base rent and any additional charges such as parking, garage, or broadband. Rent must be paid in advance, usually by the last business day of the month before — meaning January's rent should be paid by the end of December.
Most landlords offer direct debit (autogiro) or e-invoicing for easy payment. If you suspect the invoice is incorrect, contact the landlord immediately. Unpaid rent can lead to a payment order via the Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden) and in the worst case, forfeiture of the tenancy. If you have difficulty paying, contact the landlord directly — many will agree to payment plans.
